The Walking Dead - very mild spoiler potential.

Anyone else just really done with it? It is just so boring now, there is only so many times I can even try to be excited by a ninja zombie or another group of unpleasant survivors. I'm hoping this season will be the last, and they stop trying to add new cast members and just slowly kill off the existing ones until everyone is a zombie (except Daryl, who gets to be the last man alive) and end the show on that. I really just don't care about these people any more, especially Rick and Carl.

I was done with it from the 2nd episode on. Every so often I peek into the show to remind myself why I prefer the comic.

And even the comic pales in comparison to the Telltale games.

I stuck with it until they killed Dale to replace him with Hershell. Dale had a lot more depth to his character than Herschel did. After that I kinda dipped in and out.

Nope. I still love it and enjoy it. I love all iterations, whether it's the TV show, the comic or the video game.

The show sucked horse balls for the first three seasons, it's true, but the fourth was such a dramatic turn-around that I might actually watch the fifth. To me Carl and Rick had a watershed moment late in the fourth that rekindled some of my interest in those characters, and the direction the writers were going with them. It's massive spoiler territory, though.

We're marked for spoilers, are you talking about when Carl went walkabout when Rick was comatose or when Rick went all mad-dog that guy's throat? If it was the latter, that was the final straw for me. That was when I officially stopped caring because there was no longer anyone that deserved to survive, just two groups of animals. That and there are only so many jump scares with zombie fake outs that a body can take.

When Rick was comatose. They did a good job of showing how difficult it would be for a child to be self-sufficient in that kind of environment without falling for the lazy trope of just making him impossibly badass because he's the protagonist's son. But he struggles through. And finally makes up with his dad, because I was getting sick of that subplot. Combined with Michonne's backstory/finally giving her a reason to stick with the others (even if it's an emotional, rather than rational one) and developing her relationship with Rick and Carl.... honestly, yeah, fourth was great, especially given the shitshow that were second and third, and I have hope for the rest of the series now.

They've sewn up some of the more tedious plotlines (Carl doesn't want to be like Rick! Rick is sad because his wife died! Argh the Governor!) and hinted that they aren't going the cliche route with Daryl and Beth either, in interviews. The writing has improved dramatically, they're finally out off the farm/out of the prison... I think it's gon' be good.

Yeah, I'll admit the comatose Rick bit was well done. And the resolve was one of the few genuinely disturbing scenes in the show recently. I mean, I knew Rick was not going to be a zombie, but the way his breath rattled and he had to pull himself across the floor because of the dehydration from being unconscious for so long, while Carl sobbed was genuinely unsettling. That was some actually rare humanity. Certainly way better done than their attempt a heart string plucking with the two little girls.

Naah, I still love it, particularly Rick.

I don't have the same issue you have with (most of) the cast (I especially love Daryl, Carol, Michonne, Glenn and Maggie), but I thought the majority of last season was terrible. Walking Dead is really inconsistent with its quality; a couple of my favorite episodes and scenes were in last season, but a lot of my least favorites were as well. So I'm sort of looking forward to the return, but I'm also not getting my hopes up too much; last season was a huge disappointment for me.
