Sure, but it's not the first thing that comes to mind when someone says drug overdose. Clarity was important here.

Sure. Maybe the first thing that comes to mind for people who have social prejudices about addiction is that "drug overdose" means the person in question must have overdosed on something "bad" (never mind the fact that alcohol and nicotine, while legal in most countries, are physiologically much more harmful than a lot of controlled substances).

The first thing that comes to mind for me is that the person may have accidentally overdosed on any drug, including prescription medication.

Clarity is calling it what it is.
