Really? I do kind of wonder about the ratios myself, but I don't always notice it for particularly heavy nsfw fic. I assume it has more to do with the author's prevalence in a fandom, along with how good they are at promoting their fic via links on memes, tumblr, lj/dw, etc, and thereby bringing in more anonymous traffic.

Also, I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes I find my name in the kudos section of a fic I liked at the time, and I feel like AO3 is punishing me with their "no take backs no returns" when it comes to likes. It's like my shit taste is on display for all time, as a public shame—even though no one actually reads the kudos section and comes upon a name they recognize just to say, "oh wow. i always knew cloud_riven had shit taste. what a loser."

I totally agree about the "no take backs no returns" policy - especially when a story starts out so well, and I kudos it to encourage the author to continue, and then......it takes a turn that I REALLY didn't enjoy. I kind of wish I could delete my association...

You and all those others endorsed that bad fic by funding it with kudos! You are to blame! hahaaha

haha NOOOOOOO!!!!!

Ugh, this. Or I've left kudos on a fic by someone that I wish to permanently disassociate myself with. Nope, not happening. :/

I feel you on the last paragraph. I often leave anonymous kudos on things I sort of like, but not enough to attach my name to it and say "[name] liked this fanfic and recommends it to you". Obviously that's ridiculous because nobody will go through the kudos and take my leaving kudos as a sign that it's a particularly great fic, or judge me for liking this mediocre fic, but still.

sometimes i wish i could browse specific users' "kudoed work" for recs if i like their taste...but i can see where users might not want that feature.

I wish that feature was at least available for the individual. I don't always bookmark everything, so I end up having to go through the reading history to see what I left kudos on (or forgot to leave kudos on. that too).

OH, that is a good idea!! I go through so many fics that trawling through my history takes ages (and I've done it to find that one fic I can't remember and didn't mark...). Man, now I wish AO3 actually had a link to go through my kudos.

Interesting. I just realized: I never, ever take notice of people's usernames in the kudos of stories I haven't written.
