Hmm, that's unexpected but intriguing! Might have to watch them sometime. (I figured the darker moments would be few and far between, but it's pretty cool the show didn't just run with joke after joke with no substance.)

Honestly, what I like best about those episodes is that it does tackle topics that would be pretty touchy even today. [Ex. There's an episode that deals with the crap women go through when they try to prosecute their rapist.]

Well...that sounds depressing, but from what's being said in this thread I'm sure it does a good job of exploring how terrible the reality of that situation is. (Which is something that should be explored.)

Sounds ahead of its time, as you don't see a lot of that kind of thing even now.
