In the age of wonder, 1000 (internet) years ago, the fic was fun and good. Then, the fangirls cracked. For a single piece of self-control was lost: the piece that tells you that maybe it's not cool to write explicit porn about real people and then show it to said people at cons. Then strife began, and two fan factions appeared. The RPF fans and fans who were creeped out by them. And in certain fandoms, the RPF fans took control...

In fandom, ficcers are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: normal fanfic writers, who write normal fanfic of fictional worlds; and people who write RPF, who are the reason why we can't have nice things. Their stories are all over the internet. No, seriously, they're not that hard to find. Haven't you heard of google?
