44. GOD I HATED THAT TOO.

To be fair, Luke deserved and needed it, and he wouldn't have grown up to be the awesome person he was when the game ended, but that part still pissed me off SO BADLY when I played through with it.

But seriously. Play past it. It gets better and you'll probably love everyone at the end of the game.

I still say it's not really his fault. Luke was an ignorant brat and he HAD a reason not to tell anyone what Van was planning. I'm not gonna say that he's excused, but from Luke's point of view everything made sense. He hated his party members, why the hell would he tell them the plan that would grant him his freedom? It seems like everyone forgot he really mentally was only 7 years old, and you can't expect a 7 year old who's literally been sheltered from society his whole life to make good judgment calls.

You can't even make the excuse that Ion knew better than him despite being younger. Ion's the fucking Fon master, he SHOULD have know what was behind those doors. But I can't blame Ion either because I think Van intentionally never told him about the Sephiroth trees. Still, Luke had a good point when he called Ion out for it too, so having people be like "IT'S NOT THE SAME" really pisses me off. The only difference between Ion and Luke was that Ion was a helluva lot nicer LOL.

/tl;dr defense of a fictional character
