Oh yeah. That's me, and I also use them to indicate happiness or anger or joking or whatever. Smilies, *emotes,* strikethrough text, whatever, it's about adding voice and trying to convey what we're meaning as well as what we're saying.
But maybe the ability to defuse wank and bitchiness and hate is what pisses people off so much about it in a way. If you want to take things in the wrong way, if you want to fight and troll and wank, it has to remain like a game, you can't see your enemy or your lulz as human. *headdesk*
