Re: I am an adult, I do adult things!

I'm sort of the opposite of you. I load dishwashers great, to the point that both at home and the couple of times I've worked in restaurants, I've been almost immediately planted on semi-permanent dishwasher duty (mostly due to the fact that I could clear rush-hour dishes in about 2/3 the loads anyone else could manage). And, okay, I'm a bit OCD about it at home, because I know how everything fits (except that stupid bloody colander, it never fits, I hate that fucking thing), but it's gotten to the point that nobody will fill the dishwasher at home except me. Even if I'm not there. Everybody just waits for me to do it.

Apparently there is a knack, though. One trick is to remember that, depending on the dishwasher layout, saucers, small plates and pot lids can often be laid flat on top of racked mugs or the like after the rest has been loaded (so long as they're resting on the bottom of the mug, not the top). Also, mugs can be stowed underneath large pots if there's no other room, so long as they're both facing downwards.

Uh. Sorry. Yeah, there can be a knack to it? -_-;
