(Anonymous) 2014-09-25 03:08 am (UTC)(link)There was that famous interview where he mentions how there are several gay members of The Hobbit cast and while people have figured out Adam Brown, Lee Pace and Luke Evans (and there's McKellen himself), one of them still hasn't been identified. People have been speculating it's Armitage.
Then there's McKellen's old comment (at the press junket when the first film came out, I think) about the cast being busy sleeping with each other. I think the question was if anyone got close to the animals on set and slept next to their horse like Viggo did with his during LOTR filming or something along those lines, and Ian laughed and said they were too busy sleeping with each other, and it was clearly told as a joke.
In retrospect, at the time "Armitage is gay" rumours haven't surfaced yet. Armitage's kinda awkward laugh when Ian says that is also interesting LOL, it's funny how different it seems now in light of the rumours.
Sure, could be nothing, but I stil find it interesting. The clip in question is on Youtube, btw.
