I guess I'm fortunate to not have seen many roaches in my life, but I thought they were black. A lot of bugs are black, in any case, so maybe that's what they animators were thinking.

Some are. Some are very dark brown. Some are light brown. I have no idea what OP is talking about, it really depends on the roach.

I think the red thing is one of those...things? God. It's not real, but it's what a lot of people think, because media shows it that way.

But the only roaches I've ever seen were not red.

Might be an Americanism. American roaches are a rather pretty color... except when they're running underfoot or flying at your face.

Can confirm the existence of black roaches. I find two-inchers that color in my apartment frequently enough.

A lot of Japanese cockroaches seem to be black as well.

Still…it probably would have been a good idea to go with a different color scheme. But I'd imagine it's a mistake borne of ignorance.

The cockroaches were reddish brown in the manga ads. I assume that's what the secret is talking about.
