Re: For those not in Fire Emblem: Awakening fandom.

If you're not personalizing your avatar in games that allow you to build up their character and care about spouses you don't know how to party.

That's the thing though, the Avatar is not a self-insert. The Avatar has a canon personality and a number of designs are provided in the game to choose from, but certain things are consistent.

It like the whole Shepherd issue of Mass Effect. Sure you can choose who to romance, what to do, and whether to be paragon or renegade, but Shepherd does have a personality and it is possibly to write Shepherd out of character (as I'm sure many veterans of ME fandom will attest too)

The Avatar from FE:A has a personality written into the script, all you can really do is choose who to marry and their outwards appearance. This is why FE:A can get wanky as fuck because people tend to highjack the Avatar's personality and why Chrom!Wives in particular have a bad reputation.

I personally don't give a shit because Fire Emblem fandom is always a wanky/shipping war hell, but there needs to be clarification that just because a character is appearance-wise customizable does not mean their personality is. This ain't Fallout/Persona/Dragon Age: Origins type roleplaying.

Honestly tho I created a 12-years-old-looking guy with a happy face and a deep voice and you telling me I can't expand their personality and appearance beyond what's in the game?

Mass Effect fandom doesn't know how to party either.
