I'm not all that familiar with Clamp (only read a couple of their series), but...what's wrong with getting inspiration from them?

Well, a lot of the stories have tend to have... inappropriate relationships painted in a positive light (mostly the relationships I'm talking about are adult/teenager or adult/child) and a lot of their stories have pointless or overdramatic themes to it. Or just, really, a lot of unnecessary stuff.

Not to mention that they seem to have a lot of works go unfinished so fans get frustrated with that (see: X/1999).

Ah, okay. Thanks for the explanation.

I feel like almost every series or piece of media has unnecessary stuff. Maybe not, well, a lot of it, but depending on how well you do that stuff, people might not even mind.

If you want to explore inappropriate relationships you can do it your own way! You don't have to paint them in a positive light, and even if you do...well, that's a bit fucked up, but some people like fucked up relationships.
