Why you have to take that away from Duke, show?!

Because Emma Lahana asked to leave, unfortunately. It sounds from the vague chatter we've gotten like Nova Scotia didn't agree with her. Most of what happens to Duke is because the writers are sadistic bastards (and I love them for it), but this time it's because the real world interfered. Damn real world.

Ooo, thanks for letting me know! A part of me thinks it would've been nice if she could have left the show alive, but this is Haven and it does make more sense that she would die. I can see why they killed her off. (Especially since Duke's life can never be unfortunate enough, and he probably wouldn't have had enough misery this season if it wasn't for the dead gf!)

Poor Duke...

At least he'll always have The Cape Rouge. (Who am I kidding, at this point it's probably going to be blown up in the finale.)

NOOOO, that boat was practically his soul mate! Man, not only do the shows writers have it out for Duke, apparently the universe does as well.

I can't imagine Haven without Cape Rouge! I hope they still manage to bring a look alike (or something) into the show.

I heard when it happened that they were intending to float it, but never heard a followup. But I imagine after four years they've got all the establishing shots of it they could ever need, and everything belowdeck is on-set, so it's just the deck itself that would have to be recreated if necessary.

Ahhh, yea, that's true about establishing shots and the lower deck. I guess it won't effect the show much, but it's still unfortunate for the cast and crew.

I'm baffled at the notion that Nova Scotia couldn't "agree with" someone when they only film here for a few months every summer. It's not like she's here when it's shitty or cold. It's lovely in the summertime! It's warm, and not just "warm for Canada". And it's not like we're some barren wasteland of culture or amenities on their downtime. I ran into Eric Balfour outside a club their first summer so I know they come into the city, they don't stay out in Chester/Lunenberg all the time. Halifax is a perfectly cromulent city.
