Jewish mothers are rather like Tiger Moms and often stereotypically considered captain of the ship they call home.

Which is awesome, because Jewish life revolves around the home (as opposed to the synagogue), meaning that we've had closer gender equality than pretty much anyone else for centuries. Yeah it's sexist to assume that a woman's place is in the home, but at least being at home is a well-respected position with a lot of power.

(don't know if you'll see this, but-)
tbh, Judaism has some extremely advanced ideas that have been part of it years ago. For example, marital rape was recognized 2000 years ago. And Judaism also acknowledges women's sexuality, because in a marriage the husband is actually /commanded/ to provide his wife with sex.

Uh, my grandparents were Jewish and my grandmother certainly wasn't the boss. My father was raised mostly by his grandparents though, so I don't know. They died in Russia I think, long before I was born. Never met 'em.
