Re: Epithets

They are mostly a huge nope for me.
I'm more forgiving if it's an epithet that has some kind of actual plot significance - for example, if the characters are military and the story is 3rd person limited, so use of a character's rank as an epithet can signify their level of closeness or lack thereof.
But in most cases I don't feel like people actually do that, and so I think epithets are better off kept to a minimum.
