Re: things that seem to work for everybody that just don't work for you?

I get a reaction from coffee, but not from tea.
Thing is, for whatever reason the caffeine in coffee makes me kind of nauseous, and nausea can actually really wake you up, so maybe it's a combination of that and psychology.

I sometimes drink tea or hot chocolate before bed because it soothes me, but I think it is more the action of doing it, rather than anything else. Same if I have to get up early I might make a cup of tea and drink it and feel more awake, but it is more because I am a bit slow to wake up and the ritual of getting ready for the day is nice.

Maybe? I have no idea? it seems like a logical conclution tho!

Yeah, I also drink tea or hot chocolate to wake up sometimes (or go to sleep), but it's more for the flavor and enjoying something hot, not for any real physical reaction.

Yeah, and during the winter it is something I do so I will warm up a bit (and as such also wake up) before leaving the house as I refuse to light a fire bin the mornings and my electrical heating is usually pretty low during the night.

Luckily, where I live we don't need heating during the night, and while the mornings are cool, they're definitely not enough to warrant turning on the heat.
Besides, I hate sleeping with heat on, it dries me up and I suffer. The only exception to that was Korea, where they have under-the-floor heating and it's the absolute best most lovely thing ever *_* I was so happy with that. You know how nice it is to wake up and put your socked feet on a warm floor??

Oh I kinda hate you right now, winter is coming here, and it sucks!

Oh under-the-floor heating is awesome especially in the bathroom!

Well, only in my area. Slightly north and they do use heating, but a lot of buildings have gas heating they put on for a few hours in the evening, they don't keep it on all night (except for like uni dorms which were heated to the point of ridiculous).

Be strong, I guess, haha! Lots of hot drinks to get you through. And I bet it snows by you. We never get snow :(
