Tumblr tends to update their features so I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually refined the tag system a bit more.

I'm confused what feature exactly you're looking for. Do you mean a search that allows you to search for a word used *within* a tag (for when people have tags like 'show: XyZ' instead of just tagging 'XyZ')? Because if so, yes, I'm with you.

But also, if you're just trying to search for multiple tags on a post, you can do it, you just have to separate the tags you want to search with a comma in the search field (ex: 'XyZ, character'). It took me almost four years of using Tumblr to figure that out, so maybe you're more advanced than me. But maybe someone else with that struggle with see this post.
