What I've learned about Amanda Palmer comes 100% from F!S. but I don't get the Neil Gaiman hate. Sure, thinking he's overrated or whatever, but there's such passion in the whining about him, I don't get it.

He's married to the racist cunt, ergo, guilt by association.

Nice gendered slur. Your SJW colors are showing. Now can you tell the class why you think she's racist or did you just hear it somewhere and are bleating anything against a woman that isn't 'proper'?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-29 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
does SJW even MEAN anything anymore?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-30 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Nope.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-30 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
No. It's a term used by those who like to cut themselves on their "edge". Hating those who'd like to make the world a better place is so cool, original, and different. Everyone should stop being so offended by words that aren't even slurs against me, blah blah blah I'm so white and privileged it hurts me to think about someone other than myself.

Oops, did I say that out loud?

I've never met a SJW who actually wanted to make the world a better place. They pretty much just spread irrational hate. Their methods of fighting for social justice are so nasty and ineffective that I suspect the movement was started by the conservative right in order to discredit the real fight for social justice by making the left look irrational.

Do you mean a self-labeled SJW or an others-labeled SJW.

Because here locally, we had people get labeled as SJWs for daring to express disgust that when two kids went missing (one a 4-year-old black girl and one a 5-year-old white girl a few months later) the reactions were grossly unbalanced.

I got labeled one for saying I was dropping a comic book for the way the artist was drawing women.

I mean, really, it doesn't mean anything. People who use it on themselves are generally overcrusading jerks, and people using it as a slur often use it to avoid having to actually address that they're behaving like jerks.

She's been known to appropriate other cultures in her music and her shows and not give a flying fuck.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-30 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Cultural appropriation =/= racism.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-30 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, let me guess. You're one of those white girls who's mad because they can't dress up in a sweet boho warbonnet that matches their skinny jeans?

(Anonymous) 2014-10-01 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Go fuck yourself on a metal pole.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-01 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, otakugal!

(Anonymous) 2014-09-30 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Totally love it when the subject of racism gives a free pass to sexism

I'm guilty of whining about Neil Gaiman on here. For my part it's misdirected frustration. So many of my (otherwise sane) RL friends are mad about him to the point of devotion. I have to hear about what he's been up to, repeated stories about when they met him, how amazing his writing is, they even quote his tweets to me.

Personally I think he's a berk but I can't say that, so I have to nod and smile and listen patiently.

On here I can let rip and it feels soooo good.
