Re: ridiculous advice people have earnestly given you

This one, on it's face, isn't really out there at all, but the vehemence with which people insist that ALL YOU HAVE TO DO to lose weight is use more calories than you take in is grating.

Because 1. It's not always that easy, especially when there's a lifetime of baggage and weight-related health issues affecting choices and exercise options (not to mention monetary issues), and 2. For some people, that's really NOT all you have to do.

Especially when you mention health issues or medication. One medication my mom was on put her in pain due to stomach acid unless she was constantly eating. Surprise, she gained thirty pounds in three months.

Or hell, sometimes weight loss or health get overtaken by more immediate problems. People don't have an infinite amount of willpower to do everything every day.

I can see why that would be frustrating. Hopefully no one is personally telling you this (if so, how rude).

I think the people who say this are speaking out of arrogance or self-centredness. Like they assume it's as easy for everyone else as it is for them.

Like the only reason I'm not fat is because I have a good metabolism. There's also other factors like medication. I'm on the pill at the moment, and I did gain weight because of it. I can't just stop taking the pill because of other medical reasons. So it's really shitty to just assume that it's an easy thing to lose weight. There are a lot of things people might be juggling.

I don't think it's necessarily arrogance as much as it is just ignorance of other factors.

They may be idiots in their perfect little worlds, but well-meaning idiots.

Well scientifically, yes calories in vs. calories expended is pretty much how you lose weight. But yeah, it's not that ways for everyone.

Saw it, but it doesn't erase the first few. Anon still felt it important to repeat the same fucking thing that I just said WE KNOW.
