With comments like that, sometimes you wonder if the abuse was the worst part, or if it's these horribly insensitive people who cannot fathom the horrors an abused person was forced to endure.

How about the cousin comment that you should forgive your abusers because everyone is owed forgiveness after enough time has passed? Ugh.
