Re: desi?

South Asian.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desi

South Asian includes places like Afghanistan and Bhutan and those are not considered desi.

Just India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, I believe.

Desi [d̪eːsi] is a Hindustani (Indian) term for the people, cultures, and products of the Indian subcontinent or South Asia and, increasingly, for their diaspora derived from the Sanskrit word for country.[1] Desi nations include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh.[2]

Wiki'd it for you.

Yeah, I to look that one up on Urban Dictionary.

"Word derived from Sanskrit. Means "one from our country"; a national opposed to a foreign. Usually refers to people from India, Pakistan, & Bangladesh.

For Indians/Pakistanis/Bengalis abroad, it has become a term that mainly identifies another fellow Indian/Pakistani/Bengali"

Thanks for asking, I had no idea either.

There is this neat site called Google. You can find it here:

http://www.google.com

It helps people who don't know things to find answers to questions by themselves instead of wasting other peoples' time. Please try it.

And the pretentious "Google it" commenter has arrived!

Seriously, it would have taken you less time to simply answer anon than to type that comment out.

Believe it or not, there's more than one person here who gets tired of people who refuse to even TRY to answer their own questions.

Why does that offend you so much? I honestly don't get it. It seems to make some people really, really mad.

NAYART

You're already on the internet. How lazy and entitled do you have to be to expect other people to define words for you? Not idioms or concepts or context... words. In the amount of time it takes to type a question into a comment and post it, you can type it into google or wikipedia, get your answer, and actually participate in the discussion instead of hijacking it for vocabulary lessons. That said, there's a difference between being offended and being annoyed. Lazy people on fandomsecrets are usually just annoying.

If it's merely "annoying", why do you get so worked up about it? I still contend that the amount of energy you put into being upset and writing comments about being upset is greater than the amount of energy that it would have taken to answer the question, or scroll on, or the amount of energy it took anon to ask the question, OR the amount of energy it would have taken for them to Google it.

If it bothers you, why not just scroll?

The "go Google it" comments always just seemed really pretentious. People ask questions here because it's easy and others are willing to answer them. If nobody answered them, they'd have to look elsewhere anyway.

Yes, God forbid we communicate with another human being and waste their time.
