Normally I expect FS to give me a dose of reality, but this is a place that thinks tumblr is just complaining unnecessarily about everything, so this is about on par with what I expected.

For what it's worth, I completely empathize. I'm white, but I have my problems, and they absolutely cause people to judge me, and I get very easily defeated. I'm not a fighter, and I don't think people should be such assholes just because you're (I assume) not a fighter, either.

It really sucks having to work ten times as hard, for half the reward.

Here's a dose of reality: everyone has their problems. At the end of the day it's your attitude and how you deal with it that gets you through.

No it's not easy to do, but not all of us are content to sit around moping about how hard life is.

Jesus fucking christ, it's a rant thread. Every single person here is moping. Why does bringing up race and gender (which yeah, do have an effect on a person's life, and can really fuck you in STEM fields no matter the attitude you have) somehow make her more worthy of scorn than any other person here?

Because she's written off the whole fucking world. Because everyday in my job I see people struggle against insurmountable fucking odds to try and survive, and she's on here whining about perceived injustices instead of getting out there and trying to improve her lot.

What part of "racism makes it even harder than just plain struggling to survive" is hard for you to understand.

Firstly, I'm a POC too so I'm pretty intimately acquainted with it thanks.

Secondly, what part of 'racism is not a get out of having to make an effort like the rest of us card' do you not understand?

You write something off as a lost cause before trying, it's not your skin color that's the problem.

You're kind of a moron. Can I ask you a question, is moreris not allowed to rant about what she feels frustrated about in a rant thread? Because you sure seem to want to police how she feels.

She can post how she feels, but similarly I can post that I find her attitude distasteful.

'I don't feel the need to work hard because I'll never get anywhere because the world is so hard'.

It doesn't matter what race she is, I'd still find her attitude appalling and would say so.

Are you trying to imply that racial hardships are only in her head? Because racial prejudice is certainly a thing that exists.

She feels down at the moment and is venting on the fucking internet during what is probably her down time. You have no idea what she actually does or what kind of work or effort she puts in on a day-to-day basis.

What you're doing is taking a person who's acknowledged having depression and doing everything that you're not supposed to do with a person who has depression and is in a spiral. You are actively making things worse, and you're being a smug, self-righteous, just-world-fallacy weaving little shit about it, on top of it.

And here's some reality for you, trying to go through every single day of your life pretending like everything is always okay and never venting your frustrations can be extremely unhealthy.

Normal human beings have down times, it is okay to have down times, it is okay if you don't always have a good attitude.

If the down times outnumber the good times, then maybe it is a cause for concern but I don't know how you can judge a random user you don't know in a RANT THREAD.

I think they're giving you a hard time. It's a rant thread after all. I agree with those saying you shouldn't let it defeat you, but it's natural to feel discouraged if you feel things are working against you through no fault of your own.
