Agree with you on everything but your point about canon. Coming from a fandom where people haven't even seen the original source material and pay no reference to it in their fics, I feel the canon is at least a little important.

I meant canon in the sense of 'this is who ends up with who'. Like Harry/Ginny is canon, Harry/Hermione (sp) isn't.
