Question about Monsters as Social Allegory

So, a lot of people see vampires or mutants as allegories for gay or other minorities. I know a lot of people see that as stupid since vampires are actually monsters. However, since some people do see them that way, how much flack would I get if I did something like write the good vampire as the one who resists blood and can achieve salvation that way? I actually don't give a shit about the allegory but if vampires are considered gay allegory, then I'm basically giving a finger to gay people since the vampire is achieving salvation by denying its urges. How mainstream is this allegorical reading anyway?

I know it's dumb but I'm just trying to take a temperature on this...

Let's talk about technical disparity in the modern world and the cult technological progression

Here's a perfect example of this kind of bizarre disparity:

Cellphones. Cellphones are ridiculously ubiquitous devices in the modern world. How ridiculously ubiquitous?

Well, in some places, like parts of East Africa and the Middle East, there are people who have cellphones but do not have running water or electricity.

I was watchin' a thing a while back where they were talking to these folks who live in mud huts in Africa. Literal mud huts, structures composed of wood and mud. They're farmers who are just trying to scrape by n shit. None of them have running water. Some of them have small amounts of electricity for small periods of the day, from a gas generator, that they use for highly specific things (mostly for running a few machines they have about for various life necessities).

But they all have cellphones. One of the dudes had a 3GS iPhone, which at the time this thing was shot was only like, 1 generation behind the current one. They used their cellphones to keep in touch with each other, and most importantly to keep tabs on the movement of local militias (a major problem there, since they have a tendency to raid their crops and supplies and shit)

So how are these people charging their phones, since electricity is so sparse or non-existent? Well, some American non-profit had set up solar powered charging stations around the countryside, so every other day one of the dudes from the village gathers up people's cellphones and goes and charges them at a solar tower a good way's away (one of the locals bemoans how this is very inconvenient, and he wishes the tower was closer so they could all just charge their phones whenever, instead of this arrangement)

dude with the iPhone? He's got a Facebook page. Dude doesn't have electricity or running water, he lives in a literal mud hut and he has to take very good care of the mosquito mesh set up around his windows and doors because malaria is a real concern for these people.

But he's got a Facebook, so he's got that going for him, I guess?

That's how fucking schizophrenic the trickle down of modern technology has been. How did that guy get his iPhone 3GS, anyway? Well, as it turns out, a lot of countries ship their electronics waste to this country. They literally send their garbage cellphones here, and there's a whole local industry of people who employ others (mostly children) to pick through that garbage for phones in relatively good shape, which are then repaired and sold to locals for a pittance of their value in the countries they came from.

So this guy has a 3GS iPhone because someone on the other side of the world threw it in the garbage, probably when it was still functional... probably because the 4G came out and who wants an old generation phone?

I wanted to start reading some WW, so I picked this up rather than the regular title (which is at issue 34 or something.)

So today I found out that my friend's dad is getting divorced. I should feel terrible, but I don't. I'm delighted.

Ages ago when my friend and I were kids he up and left his family for a much younger woman, rarely saw my friend again, and never paid a cent of child support. In the years since he had a new family with the other woman and every time my friend visited him, he made it clear that he considered them his "real" family/kids, and the other one some kind of failed experiment/write off/mulligan. This has been crushingly painful to my friend pretty much his whole life, because he still loves his dad, looks up to him, etc., and the guy can't be bothered to return his phone calls. Like, he will buy his dad Christmas presents and his dad won't reciprocate. It's that cold.

Anyway, today I found out that his second wife has left him for another man (her own age), moved across the province, taken the kids, and it looks like because of his track record with his first family she's going to get full custody. According to my friend this is pretty much destroying his dad, mentally and emotionally.

Anyway, the icing on the cake is that just a few years ago, I finally convinced said friend to give up on his dad. Stop trying. Move on. He gave his dad one last chance, dad didn't give a shit, and they were through. But guess who he's come crawling back to for emotional support now? And guess who won't return his calls?

Haaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.

(I know this is probably traumatic and painful and horrible for him, but seriously, he's been a dagger in the heart of one of my closest friends for literally decades, and I can't work up anything more than a KARMA'S A BITCH AIN'T IT SON for the man.)
