FFN supports the fic writer's right to provide or delete their stories as they see fit.

Except if we're talking about downloading, they kind of don't. I'm perfectly okay with people downloading my fic. If it were an opt-in/opt-out feature you might have an argument, but as it is, no. It's a feature that's better on AO3. And honestly, downloading just makes it easier. People still save fics off FFN, as you could see upthread.
