Oh...well huh...I always figured they had lots of similarity but most of that was your standard hero's journey stuff.

But then again I didn't pay much attention to Star Wars because it was never really my thing.

The only thing I can think is that there's a trio and one of them is "special" and has to beat the Big Bad Guy.

True. Though that's an extremely common trope (or set of tropes?) throughout media.

ETA: oh, and the two trio members who aren't the Special One end up getting together! aha! total ripoff.
