I tend to like A/B/O fics that play with the roles - I don't want Semes and Ukes by another name, I want a real look at how those roles might play out, how fantastical races may treat them differently.

Not long ago I read a really interesting Dragon Age fic that cast all mages as omegas and looked at DA2 events with that in mind (and Anders ending up pregnant to Hawke).
I have also read A/B/O fics in The Hobbit that compares hobbit customs concerning Alpha/Omega roles (usually with hobbits having few alphas) to Dwarven customs (usually with dwarves having very few omegas).

But on a whole, even with the A/B/O trope, I want stories I read to be more than just "OMG! I'm in heat! fuck me now Alpha!" and have a broader plot than just the porn.
