Yup. It basically unintentionally implies is that the writer thinks that the slash pairing's love is so weak that the presence of any non-evil attractive woman will completely drown it out. Also unintentionally implies that the only good excuse to ship two men together is if there are no viable het options.

Also, really, a lot of people fall in love more than once in their life, and it's usually not because all the people they fall in love with first turn out to be dickheads.
