*rolling eyes*

Yes, yes, quite correct, OP did not say that she shouldn't go to prison. Very well done.

Why the eyeroll? If you don't want people to point out your basic reading comprehension failures, try not to make them.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I think you're being unnecessarily pedantic.

Of course you do. Otherwise you'd have to back down.

Give in gracefully, buddy. You lost.

No, it's true, I am fully prepared to acknowledge that I misstated the exact way in which OP expressed their view that it was a bad thing she was going to prison.

Nowhere in the secret does it say it's a bad thing she's going to prison. OP feels sorry for her. That's not even remotely close to saying she shouldn't go. Seriously, reading comprehension skills are really important in life no matter what field you go into, and if yours are this poor, it's going to be a major obstacle in communications. Working to improve them would be all to your benefit, and best of all, it would keep you out of awkward situations where you keep misreading things and then getting mad when people expect to you to understand that words mean things.

Pointing out that you're taking issue with something that doesn't actually appear in the secret isn't pedantic, it's just common sense. I imagine it's inconvenient for you if all you want to do is get your hate on and rail at people for saying things they never said, but frankly, if you're going to do that, you should probably expect someone to point out your mistake.

I read the secret as saying that it was a bad thing she was going to prison, and I responded in those terms. I still think that's what the secret was saying.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-08 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not, though. Everyone else knows that because we can read the secret, which says: "I feel sorry for her that she's going to prison. I never watched RHOJ, but she seemed pretty nice (f shy, and not very bright) on Celebrity Apprentice."

You see? The word "bad" does not appear anywhere in it. The only expression of opinion the OP gives is "I feel sorry for her" and "she seemed pretty nice". Neither of those is "it's bad a thing she's going to prison". As others have pointed out to you, feeling sorry for someone doesn't mean you don't think they ought to be punished.

A lot better done than you , certainly.
