Tumblr, LJ, Twitter, Facebook. Kind of everywhere? I know that when he made that really tasteless comment about Phillip Seymour Hoffman's death, people were extremely hurt by it. I remember hearing about how one person who was an alcoholic was going to give him a letter about how Sam's addiction storyline had touched her and helped her get sober and then when he said that, she was devastated. I don't even think she wound up going to the convention.

Also, there was a tumblr post just a few weeks ago from someone who ran into him in an airport and he was really rude to her. He snatched the camera away from the girl's mother and snapped at the girl, ''Some people pay to take pictures with me'' when she asked for a picture.

I honestly haven't heard anything nice about the guy in a while.

That's...two things. And that last one? Sounds pretty made up, honestly. Because there are tons of pictures of both of them taken at airports and everywhere else, hugging random strangers for pictures.

So...yeah, no, this isn't very convincing.

There were pictures in the tumblr post of him grabbing the camera. If you'd like, I can find it.

You seem really desperate to believe that he's the best guy ever. You can still like him even if you acknowledge that he's done some shitty things? None of this makes him the worst person ever. Given the way he's behaved at conventions (sweet, friendly) he's probably not the worst guy ever. But he's done some douchey things.

I don't think I understand why this is so hard to believe.

It's hard to believe because in fandom, i read/follow/am a member of a lot of places that are all about Supernatural, the boys, etc. And not places of blind worship, fannish places that criticize and discuss. And this is the *very first* i've ever heard of *anything* remotely like this, at all.

So, yes, it seems a bit suspect, considering that a few ill-thought-out comments on Twitter and suddenly he's the Most Horrible Person Ever, and a 'douche' and a 'creep' and.....

It sounds like trolling, and if it's 'all over' and has happened more than once, why isn't it...anywhere? If i'm being skeptical of him being a horrible person, then i think some people are way too quick to decide that ill-advised Twitter posts make him the worst person on the planet.

Well, where is it?

I remember hearing about how one person who was an alcoholic was going to give him a letter about how Sam's addiction storyline had touched her and helped her get sober and then when he said that, she was devastated

This is where I'm going to sound like a douche because it's ridiculous to be inspired by a FICTIONAL character and then get devastated, or disappointed or surprised, when the actor who played him - who is a totally different and very real person - doesn't live up to her view of his character. Jared Whatever is not Sam Winchester. He doesn't even have to be a nice person. He just has to show up on set and do his job. Maybe fans need to stop expecting more from him, then they wouldn't be so disappointed when he doesn't deliver.
