I know it's a cliché but: Loki, still.

It' a great character and the actor's nice, but the way his fans just manage downplay his deeds because "boohoo he was adopted and daddy didn't favor him" is just annoying.

It really surprised me when I watched Thor and he was treated pretty normally by his family. I mean, my dad favored me over my sister WAY more (unfortunately) but she never even inched in the direction Loki did. He's a villain -- that's part of his charm but I kind of feel like you can't really be a fan of his if you're constantly trying to downplay or ignore the terrible things he did. That's a huge part of who he is.

If we'd be doing a pissing competition over tragic backstories I could win from Loki any day of the week, just saying.

Bu yeah I agree - he's a villain. A fun villain, but still. Nothing wrong with liking that, but just own up to that.

I'm still rolling my eyes thinking about all the 'Loki gets accepted by the Avengers, who totes understand him and are horrified by how Odin treated him' stories in the Thor/Avengers fandom.

I like Loki, like a lot, and I agree with you. Hell the reason why I like him so much is because he's such a massive shit-head but man does most of fandom(or what seems like it) like to completely ignore that.

I feel like there's so much untapped potential with him. His reasons for doing what he does, though evil, aren't completely illogical (just immoral) and I think one could write some really great fic exploring his philosophy and how his family dynamics and revelations of his origins shaped him into who he is. But fandom just seems to want to ignore that or redeem him, which I think is a pity.
