Define cheat. I guess sort of.

I never had sex with someone else while in a relationship.

During one relationship I did sort of have a thing with a teacher (who was married, which made it more complex I guess). I also still had cybersex, but he knew about that, so that's not technically cheating.

But it's more complex in the sense that a) that relationship had a sort of D/s dynamic and he was sort of into the idea of me with someone else and b) that is was a fine line between cheating and an open-ish relationship.

I haven't done anything like that in my current relationship though, but I am just naturally flirtatious.

Was that TMI?

Nah, not TMI really. I personally define cheating as romantic or sexual contact with a person other than your partner that is not part of the parameters of that relationship.

I have an open relationship, so to me cheating would more be in the way of my partner forming a romantic bond with someone without me being informed or consulted first.

The thing is the parameters of all of my relationships were also sort of vague, in the sense I never actually planned for any of them and then they sort of happened and ooops, suddenly I was apparently someone's girlfriend.

I know that sounds weird but that seems to be the way it goes for me.

lol that's most relationships I think.

I'm just saying that every couple dynamic is different; some people default to monogamy, others choose to discuss different options. Therefore it's better to define cheating as deviating from those assumptions (or the rules that got laid out in that discussion) without the other partner's knowledge or consent, basically.

Yeah, though I'm a bit of an asshole about assumptions, in the sense I feel people shouldn't make them about me.

But to be fair as I got older I became more vocal about some things, like not being the marrying kind.

But I'm still sort of an annoying little shit to people who assume stuff. Maybe more so than I need to be.

Frankly I'm the sort of person who would do a shitton for love, because deep down I'm a romantic. But I guess: be untrue to myself. If I had to pretend to be someone or something else, to live a lie or a life that doesn't feel right for me.
