OP!anon: Guessing from their Tumblr posts, they weren't expecting the horde of new users that showed up, and their servers are kind of struggling. If you managed to get a username and password, you're probably okay even if the confirmation email doesn't show up for a while. (I got mine within a minute, but then I signed up at 7:30. )
