For me, the only story of his I reacted badly to was "The Swan". I was kind of bullied a lot as a kid, though. Between the train tracks, Peter being shot, and them cutting off the swan wings and tying them onto him when he'd pleaded with them not to kill it ...

Yeah. I didn't enjoy that one very much.

I always thought that group of short stories were for older kids, like kids in their teenage years. I agree, none of Dahl's stories really upset me, but "The Swan" got under my skin really bad. I probably read it too young.
