When people try "owning" trolls. Stop, you're encouraging them.

It can also escalate if you do that. I had to stop going to a community (not FS) because I tried to out-troll someone, and it got really bad, to the point at which I had to leave the community. No, ignoring them doesn't always work, but don't push them to go further. Some trolls are seriously screwed up.

Idk. I've had a few conversatiobs with trolls where they've given up talking to me completely in the matter of a few comments because I've said something that has pushed them into a corner that means they either have to revise their troll line, leaving them open to criticism, or say something that makes it obvious that they are a troll. And I think a few comments to get them to that point is better than leaving the discussion 'open' for unsuspecting readers to get involved in.

People who keep legitimately arguing a point with a user they describe as a troll though? That shit is self-destructive and stupid. Don't do it to yourself!
