In fact, you usually do. As if a relationship that stops at close friendship is somehow inferior and everyone who REALLY cares for someone must be romantically entangled in some way.

I may be a *little* tired of close friendships always having to turn into romantic attraction in media. Just a little.

I know, all those gay couples out there. Us gay people should just get over it , because we have way more than enough representation, and keep ruining the chance for canon same sex friendships. /sarcasm
