I'm not really sure what you mean by your second paragraph... I was speaking from my own experience. I actually find myself less interested in female characters until I come to write them because a story demands it, then I find myself 'inhabiting' them in a way I don't inhabit the males -- so it's a different kind of interest I suppose: attraction to the males and identification with the females. I seem to be very limited by my own sexuality.

I also come from a family in which the men -- my late father, my brothers -- have always been more interested in the female characters than the male, and watched films/TV programs for the female characters.
