There are people who do good enough makeup that they completely change their appearance for whatever character they're cosplaying (or those celebrity makeup things,) so that's also an option if you're up for it, OP.

Honestly, even without a lot of makeup, I've found that a lot of people tend not to recognize you when you're in a costume. I walked right past my best friend once while in costume and she didn't even realize it was me.
