There's more than one scene, though? The romance angle is regularly interjected into the already busy plot:

* When Thranduil cautions Tauriel about not giving Legolas hope where there is none
* The cow-eyes Tauriel and Kili make at one another when he's in his cell
* Her decision to go rescue him during the barrel escape
* Legolas' decision to go after Tauriel in defiance of his father
* Tauriel stopping to treat Kili's wound at Laketown during the orc attack

The love triangle absolutely influences her thoughts and actions. Do you honestly think a warrior elf would've dropped everything in the midst of an orc attack (leaving her prince to fight them on his own!) in order to heal a dying dwarf with kingsfoil and sparkly elf magic without that earlier attraction? Just because she's not pining the whole movie doesn't mean the love triangle isn't present.
