I'm not a fan of Ms. Autumn, but I had a brush with some fans of hers once, and Jesus H. Christ, that was a snakepit-crazy moment. I hadn't wanted to take their behavior as typical of the whole fandom, but if other folks have had the same experience...

It's Emilie. I feel much the same way. I think musically and performance wise she is incredibly, incredibly talented. Her music and her pictures really helps me when I'm in the grips of mania or a mixed episode. But good goddamn, I CANNOT STAND anything else about her. Like, actively and virulently.

Yep. She makes great music, but I pretty much roll my eyes at anything she says outside of a song.

I was totally in your position for quite a while, for me it was the "misandry" that opened up my eyes to a lot of her faults. I've since had an opportunity to examine my problems with her "misandry". having given it significant thought, I don't know if I can really class it as misandry any more, and I don't think even if it is misandry that it is a bad thing. In her position, I think misandry is a perfectly valid outlet. I still have my problems with some of her stuff "Take the pill = Medication is bad, doctors are trying to destroy you by medicating you" is absolute horseshit, but for the most part I think I'm at peace with her as an artist.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, OP. I wish I could tell you there's a better side of the fandom, but I'm not active in music fandoms, so I don't know.

That said, it's a weird coincidence to see this secret, since today is the 2nd anniversary of my suicide attempt. I read The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls after my attempt and I could relate quite strongly to what she wrote about suicide/cutting/people's reaction.
