Not wanting or even liking children is fine, but identifying with a character who wanted to kill them seems extreme. Children are still people, just unsocialized, underdeveloped people, and the subset of of people on the internet who make dehumanizing comments about children make me uncomfortable.

There is a difference between not wanting to be around children and acting like they're vermin. I'm not saying OP does that, but the secret seems on the border of that.

No, I'd say given the character they're identifying with "vermin" is probably exactly what OP is thinking of children as.
