Nah; although having a fandom rival that fires you up to write fanfiction out the sheer will to compete sounds fun.

Yeah because turning something that's supposed to be fun into a fucking stupid pissing contest is a great idea.

It's mindsets like yours that are fucking up fandom for the rest of us.

Mindsets like mine? I don't have a rival.

Yeah because turning something that's supposed to be fun into a fucking stupid pissing contest is a great idea.

Some people really enjoy competition. Contests have been around in fandom for a long time, that's proof enough of that. People take them with various degrees of seriousness and emotional involvement; competition can be healthy and fun.

I would say mindsets like yours, that engage in bad faith and always assume the worst and malice, are doing fandom a lot more harm.

I'm guessing you don't know what pissing contest means.

I didn't use that term, but...

According to you "having a fandom rival that fires you up to write fanfiction out the sheer will to compete" = pissing contest.

Assuming you're airt :)

No, I did, to refer to your comment as the mindless, infantile and petty games of oneupmanship that only insecure people seem to enjoy, while the rest of us have to watch fandom devolve into a playground for your tantrums.

Compete over something that actually matters if that's what you're so desperate to do.

I'm honestly laughing pretty hard at you melting down and freaking the fuck out because you think someone else (who is acting very calm) is making fandom petty and infantile and a playground for temper tantrums

like, it's honestly really really funny

DA

they sound merely mildly annoyed to me. Projecting much?

I think declaring that blitzwing is partly responsible for fandom devolving into a playground for tantrums is...a bit beyond "mildly annoyed."

You got some serious displaced anger bro. I'm not a naturally competitive person, so you're venting in the wrong direction. But just because I'm not competitive, doesn't mean I have to see competition as an inherently negative or unhealthy thing.

I suggest you read this. Competition can be healthy, enjoyable, and a perfectly mature thing. Bad behavior is not a necessary (or wanted) part of most competitions.

But if they're getting fired up to write fic and competing while being an unknown rival, keeping that to themselves as the secretmaker does. How is that throwing a tantrum or making fandom unpleasant? Especially if all they do is just upload tye fic or whatever without making any reference to it. I don't get it.

It's really interesting to me how many people on FS seem completely unable to have balanced views of anything.

Like, not everyone who gets fired up by competition behaves like a deranged shipper in a shipping war. A lot of people just quietly use it to push themselves to get better at their craft.
