I always sort of assumed Wilson was trying to make House psychologically addicted and dependent on him on purpose. Especially the whole thing with his ex-wives that he has an obsession with being needed?

Because first season House doesn't act like a psychological addict, at all. But the games Wilson plays with his pills and constantly riding him and freaking out about it will make anyone react badly.

And I'm going with psychological addiction because any doctor who made it through medschool will know physical addiction is a whole different ballgame.

(Then again, I've had friends complain that when their elderly relatives were dying of cancer try to refuse to up their pain meds because "They might get addicted!" "Oh fantastic, so you're saying they're getting better?" "Oh no, they're still terminal." "Well then go ahead and give them the meds, they can worry about addiction after they die." )
