Hi, Jaybie.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Shut up, you dingus.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't feed the troll.

(Though the troll's efforts were fruitless, as I don't think this was necessarily Jaybie.)

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
SJW bullshit and OCs, no way it wasn't.

The idea of not feeding trolls always seemed odd to me. It's true that not feeding a troll means they're more likely to give up on you and bother someone else on the same site, but I don't typically see trolls grow bigger from feeding-- they stay the same size, repeating the same insults over and over. It's when you don't feed them that they grow bigger and bigger, spewing bile at everyone on the site until someone finally pays attention to them.

The problem is that these days, even if you don't feed the troll, they're still apt to go fucking nuts and dox you.

I feel like an asshole for guessing them too. Tbf, I have others in mind and do the same with other people. I just don't say so unless I know they can take my totally gentle ribbing.

Aw, don't be too hard on yourself about it.

I've had some difficulties with this as well

[personal profile] feotakahari 2014-10-25 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I have a character who doesn't really identify as male or female, and I tend to wind up interchanging pronouns when talking about him/her. I'm reluctant to get into the stuff with the x's, but I really don't have a better solution.

Same: I have a character that one could consider genderqueer (the character in question has had a... rather long and complicated development over the last 12-13 years. Long/short of it, their gender is not an important factor in the story at all anyhow, and none of the other characters bat an eyelash or bring it up), and while I often use 'they/them/theirs' pronouns when referencing them, there are times where I accidentally refer to them with male or female pronouns. Uahhhh....

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I do stuff like this as well, OP.

I invent characters, for instance, and then get embarrassed about how I react to or judge them, even though THEY'RE IMAGINARY and no one else even knows of their existence.

Then I feel nuts for doing that, and get even more disturbed.

OP:

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea who the fuck you're talking about.
And if I was "trolling," why the fuck does it matter?
I'm not insulting anyone or anything and I'm just admitting something that makes me embarassed.

Chill

You're not the troll. That jaybie guy is.

They used to stalk a user named Jaybie who had OCs and wrote fics with them.

I'm sorry they hijacked your secret.

Re: OP:

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
A user who couldn't shut the fuck up about their OC's you mean.

Re: OP:

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's rich.

You haven't shut the fuck up about them.

You mean like how you can't shut up about Jaybie? She doesn't post here under her name anymore. And I highly doubt she's here as anon. And yet you can't shut the fuck about about her. You go to any post you think she may have posted about and start bitching.

Do you have trouble following threads, OP? Did you notice how no one called you a troll, they called the first commenter a troll? Oh, wait, no you didn't, because you were too busy looking for a reason to get your panties in a wad to actually read.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Er, to try to counterbalance some of the incomprehensible, weak trolling in this thread:

I'm trans and I misgender my OCs accidentally sometimes. I misgender myself sometimes. It's an accident, I don't think it's anything to fret about.

+1

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
I misgender myself in my head a lot, 20+ years of referring to oneself one way is difficult to undo

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2014-10-25 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
In my dealings (many) with trans people, I have come to understand that it's a very different and usually lengthy process for someone to come to terms with their gender identity in a mental sense.

In short: you are far from alone. Many people I have spoken to never actually wind up identifying completely as their "new" gender identity. Which makes sense to me because I'm of the opinion that it's more of a continuum than a variety of set roles in the first place.

tl;dr "misgendering" isn't something you should worry about much. It's perfectly okay and quite typical to not feel 100% any particular gender.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I do the same thing sometimes ._.;

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
Like in real life, if you misgender someone on accident, notice it, are embarassed about it and acknowledge that you did the wrong thing, you are not a bad person. If you continually misgender someone on purpose and don't feel bad about it, then you have a problem. You don't. It's all good.
