Name some realistic AND/OR unrealistic versions of the type of school/college you went to, your job, etc.

Could you elaborate. I think pretty much all the schools I went to were weird according to normal standards.

OP - I really didn't phrase this one well. I meant the most freakishly realistic OR hilariously unrealistic, at least based on your experience.

Frankly, with my experience, not even Xavier's school for Gifted Youngsters is all that unrealistic if you take out the mutant superpowers.

In a way I find something like Glee quite unrealistic, but that's basically because everyone's a stereotype.

I always found it really bizarre when shows have students divided in cliques that are completely at odds with each other, and nobody from clique A talks to anyone in clique B, and there is this super complicated hierarchy of popularity. My school was nothing like that.

Yeah, at my school it was mostly the "outcast" kids who only spoke to certain groups. I mean, yeah, you did get bullying and kids who wouldn't hang out with certain types of kids, but really, most popular kids were friends with the different groups - that's why they were popular.

Yeah, we had bullying too, and people had groups of friends. But for most people it wasn't like, "you sit next to me in Biology but we must never speak to one another or it would be social suicide for one or both of us."

I went to high school in a really small town. It was one building, two stories, the end.

So when I see all these schools with like, hugh sprawling campuses and pools and all this stuff I just can't identify. For the longest time I actually thought things like high school cheerleading and swim teams and stuff were things they made up for TV, I didn't realize there were schools that really had these things.

Then again I also thought TiVO was something that they'd made up as well, so maybe I'm just not the brightest spark. XD

Mean Girls was technically partly based on my high school, and yet my experience was (thankfully) *nothing* like that. We didn't even really have cliques, so much as friend groups...

Um I kind of went to a school that is on par with Ouran High School. It doesn't look anything like that, but wealth wise you pretty much have every kind of social climber and or rich SOB's that you can think of with a mix of somewhat normal people. I've yet to attend a reunion though, I'm not really a fan of that kind of environment where everyone pats each other on the back and sneer at others.
