My mum has played the classic "Why don't you just try to smile and be happy?" on me multiple times for my depression.

And when I brought up that I'm going to talk to someone about possibly having ADD she just said that "Maybe you'll be able to concentrate on things if you just clean your flat?"

There's a reason why I rarely bring up issues with her.

I always get the "Just think of all those people who have it so much worse than you! You have no reason to be depressed compare to them" from my mother as a way to magic away my depression.
