Most public schools that I've heard of where I live (Texas) have some sort of dress code. My ISD was especially strict about it and we had something called "standardized dress" which weren't exactly uniforms but they pretty much were. We had to wear polo shirts (didn't matter what color) and slacks that were either navy, khaki, or black and a belt. They were also pretty strict on hair color and hair style. Several nearby ISDs have also been adopting a standardized dress code recently
