8. I dunno, I like Sylar and I don't exactly empathise with him. It's not like I think him killing people is good, but I just happen to like villains as characters and I like the way he was developed.

I thought they explained his reasons for killing people a lot more compared to some other villains who just seem to do it because they feel like it.

Also, I wouldn't say you're alone in hating him. Fandom seems to like him well enough, but casual fans tend to hate him for the sole fact that he's a villain without paying attention to his characterization beyond the actions he takes. Err, if that makes sense. XD (In my experience, anyway. I've come across more people who hate him than like him.)

Oh, I totally understand! I do tend to prefer protagonists, but am not-so-secretly in love with a lot of villains, too. Honestly, I liked him for a short while. I thought his development (and his existence at all, really -- I loved that the main villain was a strange mix of 'hero' and human) and presence were well thought-out at the outset, but his storyline just keeps dragging and dragging. *shrug*

I don't pay attention to the fandom, actually (I don't ship at all, and TV fandom as a whole bothers me because of the RPS aspect). I was mostly going by what's been posted here, and I found the Sylar adoration a little... superfluous, to say the least. Besides, I'd had a bad day the day I watched the last episode of Volume 2. *g*

I know what you mean. Heroes are fun, but a well-done villain just gets me. And I'd say that a lot of the character's storylines kind of dragged in S2. XD Judging by the preview I saw of some S3 stuff, it looks like Sylar ends up doing a lot more, and his role will probably become more interesting, especially considering that the whole volume is called "Villains." Though I will say that I liked seeing how he handled not having his powers in S2, even if the whole roadtrip thing took way too long.

I'm not hugely into the fandom, but some of what I've seen kind of makes me raise an eyebrow. Not many people seem to be able to get Sylar's characterization down very well. As for the RPS, I just kind of avoid that. XD As for the secrets here, I can't say I remember all of them that well, but I'd hazard a guess that a lot of people only focus on Sylar's superficial aspects, which is too bad.

Sorry for getting tl;dr on you, haha. I just enjoy discussing this sort of thing.

Everyone's storylines are dragging, yeah, but at least most of the other characters aren't surviving their nineteen hundredth near-death experience. XD I don't know, I'm just a little tired of him being alive. I haven't seen anything about S3 (I am a bad fan), but I'm glad that he's playing a bigger role, as opposed to the annoying pest that just won't go away. Hopefully the writers can convince me to hate him less!

Well, I poked my head in, saw the rabid Peter/Claire shipping, and immediately ducked back out. As for the secrets, they've all congealed into a messy blob in the back of my mind by now, but most were in the vein of "I'd do him, even if he'd eat my brains afterwards," or "I'm just like him, except I probably wouldn't eat the brains after cutting their heads open," etc. A little frightening!

Not a problem! I'm prone to tl;dr myself (as if that wasn't obvious just by looking at the secret, ha).
