I swear what angered me most (and I was very open minded at first) was that some characters were already doing their thing when they're young. And my head exploded at all the things because it wasn't canon. Well it might be wrong to assume they'd stick to the origins but then they could've just created a whole new set of dc characters and villains rather than tried to do a Batman story. Argh.

I really wanted the show to be something but they used every trick in the book in the first episodes and I was not excited to follow further.

I feel like they might as well just make Bruce become Batman already, as a kid, if they're not committed to making it an actual prequel. They didn't bother to establish the show as more of a general crime series that's just set in the somewhat over-the-top setting of Gotham, which I'm sure wouldn't have gotten high ratings, it might have been confusing to some viewers expecting a superhero series...but they really failed to have any restraint with how many characters they tossed in, I guess is the problem. And I don't find this Penguin interesting at all.
