I also ship FitzSimmons but I could see why people would ship Fitz/Mack or Simmons/Bobbi. I personally can easily view them as bicurious--they're so into SCIENCE and NEW THINGS and WOW SO SHINY that I could see them going "Well, not generally into men, but he is QUITE a man...."

A fair point. Personally I still interpret it as Simmon's eternal gratitude and Fitz's imagination of Simmon's reactions. Perhaps the writers were kind of pandering to the fans who tend to ship slash and/or multiship. Since I personally don't multiship and/or ship slash, that effect does not work on me.

Platonic relationships are great. Although Simmons seems more social than Fitz, it's good that both of them are trying to befriend more people, given their circumstances. As I mentioned earlier, I hope that writers not only repair their relationship throughout the second season and beyond, but that they can pull off the whole 'best friends who actually love each other' thing. It would be awful if they messed it up.
